This book covers just about everything you need to know, including organizing your office, home, home office or even trips. The section on using Technology is worth the price of admission. It recognizes the personal challenges as well as the technical and offers workable solutions. It is really about getting things done efficiently and effectively. You will be at least 20 percent better organized if you just take a few of the measures described. I wish I had had this book when I was starting my career; I would have saved a lot of wasted time.

These should be referred to as quick guidelines in time constraint situation. The Urgent-Important Model presented in this book was my favorite part! A very Oldie and Goodie

Hail the bygone days of "hippie-dom" with this rambling tale of Psych Ward inmates who take off on a journey of a lifetime. I first read The Spun Sugar Hole back in the 70's, when, as an employee of the NY State Dept. of Mental Hygiene,(both in-patient and out-patient psychiatric units) I began to suspect that, all too often, the "crazies" were NOT the folks in the wards, but the "keepers of the keys!" Jerry Sohl's mix of odd and endearing characters "break out" of the sanitarium on a joyful feat of self-discovery, a-la Kesey's "Cuckoo's Nest." The timing of this book was/and still is, so perfect, as we of the Kennedy assassination, Viet-Nam, Summer of Peace and Love Generation, often find ourselves mirrored in each of the characters' personae. I will only say, that for all you Boomers, if you loved One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, then, do buy this book and thumb a ride on this zany trip to the Coast. You'll find yourself cheering for this "mixed bag" of inmates who are yearning to find meaning in what was a frightening and discombobulated world. I am writing this review in 2010 - - - a good 30 years after I first read "Sugar Hole," and the plot and characters are as fresh and vital today; perhaps even more so.

Interesting story.

This was a story about four mentally ill people who decide to leave the medical facility where they live. Many things happen along the way which may cause you to wonder if they were truly mentally ill or not. If I met some of these people on the streets, I wouldn't think much of it. In fact, I'm not so sure I haven't met some of these people out and about. In my opinion, Jerry Sohl did a great job developing all of his main characters. The overall humor of the book is a little dry and I found it to be more interesting than funny.

Still fun after all these years.

I read it in 1972 while stationed in Korea. It was a fun light read then and when I remembered it recently, I thought I'd see if it stood up today. Not disappointed; it was still fun and eccentrically charming.

FOR AMATEURS, BUT NOT FOR A SERIOUS DENTAL PROFESSIONAL

I purchased this book thinking that it would have ample pictures of all the oral diseases that I would encounter in a practice, but I was wrong. This atlas is very limited. A simple STD such as gonorrhea, and some forms of tumors are not included in this book. Its ok for an amateur to purchase, but professionals should not buy this book or at lease not rely on this atlas. On the positive side the book does give explanations and descriptions of what the lesion is such as location, color etc. It also has a SELF-ASSESSMENT QUIZ on appendix IV with 20 questions to test your knowledge. Don't waste your time buying this atlas unless you can't find something better.

Great for Students!

This book boasts 491 superb photos cleverly arranged to face the accompanying text. The explanations are not long and frightening but suitably succinct. You learn the presenting signs and symptoms, histology, disease progression, treatment options and likely prognosis; ideal for exam revision and coping with clinicians.
This book includes a short section on what is normal and normal variations present in the populations, which is particularly helpful especially for students who have only a limited clinical experience of what is normal. Diagrams with accompanying photos of clinical presentations and text explain diagnostic and descriptive terminology, aiding understanding of diagnoses and application of appropriate terms to clinical findings. The remaining chapters deal with the common oral diseases by anatomical landmarks (teeth, gingivae, tongue etc) and by colour changes (red, white, pigmented). Presenting and explaining conditions peculiar to the hard tissues, periodontal diseases, soft tissue lesions, benign and malignant neoplasms and oral manifestations of systemic diseases. The book includes a number of useful appendices. These include a translator for those common Latin abbreviations that leave us all clueless. The quick guide to the diagnosis and management of the most common oral lesions is excellent, I just wish that within the sections diseases were listed alphabetically and thus easier to find.
This book is an excellent aid to revision and includes a self-assessment quiz to help with exam preparation. It is also a handy guide for clinics, although it is too large to fit in a pocket and sneak onto clinic the size has allowed a much more practical and readable text. My copy is proving invaluable and is well thumbed, the cover is a little flimsy but can be easily transformed with some sticky back plastic and a bit of Blue Peter know how. This is a book I will continue to dip into

Excellent and very useful

I'm in family medicine and encounter oral pathology on a regular basis. This book can't be beat for the purpose of recognition and diagnosis of oral diseases. Excellent photographs and explanations cover the full gamut of pathology likely to be encountered, and arranged according to useful diagnostic schemes - by type, color, location, etc. Even contains an extensive quiz at the end to test your mastery. I liked it so much I bought another one for my dental hygienist wife (who also loves it).

Great overview of forensics at a basic level

I am a chemistry teacher at a 2-year college and I found this book to be a very engaging and easy to read. Since it is based on state/national standards for K-12, there are lots of connections between forensics and not just the sciences but also the social sciences. I like the foundations presented, from the history of forensics to information about criminology. The activities included look fun and easy to adapt. I also enjoy all the cases included in the book - almost every page (include the back cover) includes an introduction/summary of a real case involving forensics and will be of interest to students. Highly recommend this resource for people looking to teach forensic content or students who would like an introduction to forensics.

This textbook is a wonderful introduction to Forensic Science. It has detailed labs and wonderful examples to really highlight the importance and history of the field and topics. Highly recommended.

Ein schön zu lesendes Abenteuer, macht Lust darauf es selbst mal auszuprobieren. Nur diese eine Geschichte mit der misshandelten Gabi ist nicht meins.... aber gehört wohl zu Vorlieben Anderer.
